Salisbury Council Offices

Woodmace undertook a 3 storey in-situ concrete frame and groundworks package to construct the iconic new council offices in Salisbury, involving pouring concrete for the walls, floors and columns to an “as-struck” architectural high-spec finish.

Sailsbury

  • 2500m3 of concrete for the superstructure
  • In house formwork design
  • Close relationship with Peri formwork
  • Removal of contaminated ground
  • Complex connection to listed existing historic structure

Sailsbury

The project brief dictated the finish of the concrete was to be of such a high standard where no “making good” was to be carried out, as colour and texture variations from this process would detract from the unique effect intended by the design.

The finished product has been entered into the RIBA London Review, categorising the construction as one of the top 100 schemes in the country.

The construction process required in-house 3D modelling of pour sequencing at various milestones to facilitate the high standard required of the architects joint and bolt layout.

Building

"The standard of quality of the fair faced finish to the reinforced concrete frame at Salisbury Council Offices has already received accolades from both the RIBA and the Concrete Society which speaks for itself."
