Project: Ocean Village OVHR - Southampton
Client: Bouygues
Value: circa £3.4m
Woodmace Ltd worked on ‘Ocean Village’ in Southampton for Bouygues. Ocean Village is a large, mixed-use marina with residential, business and leisure facilities, situated at the mouth of the River Itchen in Southampton.
The project was Southampton Harbour Hotel and Spa that is the city's first luxury five star hotel with 110-bed and 10 suites. Woodmace also worked on the Admiral's Quay development just yards away which was for 300 new flats and the city's highest residential building situated on the edge of the Ocean Village marina.
This was a challenging and complicated project for Woodmace given the works were undertaken beside and into the water of the existing marina.

Woodmace undertook the demolition of existing pontoon and mooring bollards and this included crushing and breaking up of hard standings. The ground contained asbestos and needed remediation action. Woodmace cleaned circa 700m3 of hazardous waste which avoided costly removal and disposals, this saved a substantial sum for the client and was the most environmentally friendly solution.

Groundwork and substructure works formed an essential part of the project to prepare the site for the proposed structure and to create foundations necessary for its support. The works included deep drainage excavations which went below the water level.
The works at Admiral Quay apartments included remediation works along with included basement excavations, deep drainage, and reinforced concrete works to the transfer slab.
Works included hard landscaping in the form of paving and incorporating paving and walkways.
The project was completed for Bouygues on programme, to budget and to a high standard.
