Plant & Heavy Haulage
Woodmace continuously invest in plant and machinery; after all it is a vital part of ‘what we do’. All our equipment is owned by the business; this ensures that we have the right equipment to meet our requirements and programmes of work. It allows for flexibility and agility enabling us to meet ‘tight’ deadlines and programmes ensuring that we are not reliant on third parties for plant hire.
Woodmace own an extensive fleet of vehicles, transporters and plant ranging from 1.5 tonne dumpers to 40 tonne excavators and specialist piling rigs. Repair and service works are carried out in our purpose-built workshops along with mobile fitters to ensure down time is kept to a minimum.
Our transporters allow machinery to be dispatched to exactly where it is needed; this provides, flexibility and cost efficiencies, by always keeping the right machinery fully operational on sites.
Plant and machinery have a renewal cycle of three to four years; this ensures they are modern, efficient, and compliant with current health and safety legislation and emission regulations.
This investment in plant provides lower fuel consumption, lower emissions, improved safety measures and our excavators also have GPS installed. GPS allows the machinery to be controlled by the 3D model the engineer produces and the advanced GPS systems provides the machine operators with feedback on items such as the bucket and/or blade position as well as target grades. This GPS/ 3D model linked machine means control is quickly defining a new era of construction site efficiency.
We own and utilise subscan detection equipment that enables us to ‘bring the underground- above ground’. It ensures avoidance of underground utilities and to give us a clear understanding of the underground landscape prior to works starting.
