Woodmace in the community

Dorch-News-Main

Woodmace have been working at Dorchester County Hospital site providing a surface level 200 space car park situated close to the maternity unit at Dorchester Hospital. Parking has historically been very limited and our works on the surface car park and at the new multi-storey car park facility in the area will help to alleviate this congestion.

As part of our liaison with the hospital and the maternity unit team during the works, we understood that the hard working midwives and nursing and support staff teams have to provide their own tea, coffee and refreshments.

When working hard we all know and appreciate the importance of a break and a hot drink and often assume that this is provided by our employers. When the Woodmace team found out about this we decided to give a little ‘thank you’ back to the staff at the maternity team. A selection of teas, coffee, herbal teas and biscuits were donated. When the site team approached our group managing director with the idea, its was wholly supported, especially as his son had recently been born at the unit and he and his wife had experienced first hand the excellent care and service provided by the unit.

“Communities are at the heart of where we work and we wanted to say thank you to the hardworking NHS especially the maternity team as this is where the majority of our site work has been undertaken. The very least we felt we could do was to provide some simple refreshments.”

Joshua Eiles-Clarke, group managing director.

The maternity unit at Dorchester is consultant-led and caters for low and high-risk mums. Mums are cared for by midwives with medical facilities and doctors on hand if extra support is needed.
